Teaching

Most students come to Anamay Ashram through Dhanvantari Dhyan Yog Ved Vigyan Utthan Samiti, a related Non-Government Organization (NGO) that offers a Vedic teaching program in the various towns and villages of the Himalayas. Thus, they have already completed the two preliminary steps in our learning programs: The Guru Parampara Puja and the Vishnu Sahasranam. Upon joining the residential program at the Kausani Ashram, students learn additional stotras such as Gajendramoksh and Durga saptashati. After a six months evaluation period the students elect a branch of the Vedas which they wish to pursue and begin formal education following the traditional Vedic method. In addition to verses from the respective Vedas which they learn and memorize, all students learn certain Vedic mantras that are commonly used in Vedic performances and participate in such performances at the ashram. Soon thereafter they begin to study grammar (Vyakaran) and meaning (Nirukta).
As their education progresses, students also learn Ayurved and Sthapatya Ved (Vastu) as well as Jyotish (Vedic Astrology). Once they are proficient in chanting, advanced students begin to learn the hows and whys of yagyas: Vedic performances (Kalpa). All students practice the Transcendental Meditation (TM) and TM-Sidhis Programs (including yoga asanas and pranayam) as taught by His Holiness Maharishi Mahesh Yogi which give the student the direct experience of para, Transcendental Consciousness or Atma which is the foundation of a successful Vedic lifestyle.
